My name is Brian Wingard and in 2006 I began carp fishing. 10 years later in 2016 I am still going strong and have enjoyed every minute of it over those years. Read more in my About Us page
I began fishing at an early age probably around 3-4 years old and like most of us in the United States I started by fishing for pan fish and other small species that you can catch easily. As time went on I decided to target larger species like catfish and bass. My father would take me fishing and during the summer months we would go to the river for carp. At the time I was a little to small to really give it a shot so I just watched. The sad part was due to people littering and other activities a lot of those river spots were now no trespassing. This resulted in us going for other species of fish after that such as catfish.
In 2005 my father passed away. While reflecting back on things I decided to go out to a lake and just sit and relax. Asking for a sign that things were good with him I felt a moment of peace as some local birds flew by and all of the sudden I saw a huge tail come out of the water. At first I was thinking catfish then I realized it was a carp. Over the winter I had spent a ton of time learning about carp online and the next spring in 2006 I went carp fishing for the first time. I landed a 15lb common out of a river spot my dad and I had talked about. It was such a fun exciting fish to catch and I have been hooked ever since. My about us page explains my story and more.
The above also shows a great point to make. We all start somewhere and even though to anglers who have fished a long time the above is not considered good carp care but over time you learn and today I am an advocate for sharing proper carp care through my videos and media.
Webpage and Video
From the start of my carp fishing until the present I have always loved helping others and teaching them how to fish for carp. A few years back I started my YouTube Channel which shows many videos and finally I started my webpage www.carpfishinglifestyle.com so I can share with others how fun carp fishing can be. I offer tips, tricks and tactics to help you land more fish or even your first carp for that matter. I offer a variety of baits to share with you so you can choose what you are most comfortable and confident in.
I also show a lot of various rigs that I use. There is a limitless amount of rigs you can learn and various ways to present them so this is always challenging for anglers to learn and master.
Finally I like to showcase various trips and sessions that I do. I like to document my results out on the banks and also give an in depth look at what I am doing and how I am getting my results.
